Recuperative Catalytic Air Treatment Units (CatOx)
The polluted process air is heated either by a gas or an electrical heater to the necessary reaction temperature and then guided over the catalyst bed.
In the reactor bed the pollutants are decomposed to carbon dioxide and water. The heat from the reactor is recovered by a recuperative heat exchanger and used to pre-heat the process air.

At higher concentrations (approx. 3 g C-total/Nm3) it is possible to operate in an autothermal zone. This means that no external energy needs to be added to sustain the reaction. The control and monitoring of the unit is governed by a PLC-controlled MI&C system that can optionally be equipped with a telemetry system or tied into a master process control system.

Regenerative Catalytic Air Treatment Units (RCatOx)
Regenerative catalytic air treatment stands out especially at lower and medium pollutant concentrations because of its extremely low energy costs. The polluted process air is heated to the necessary reaction temperature by a heating system and then guided over a combined catalyst and heat accumulating bed reactor. In this reactor the process air is decomposed to carbon dioxide and water. The heat from this reactor is then guided over a second combined-bed reactor and accumulated there. After this reactor's accumulator bed has been heated, the process air stream is switched so that it enters the second reactor. The heat from the second reactor is then used to pre-heat the process air, whilst the pollutant oxidation takes place in the first reactor. During further operation, the unit is switched cyclically between the two states described above.
